New Executive Director Named

Leadership Tri-County, a nonprofit organization leadership development program for Southeastern Kentucky’s counties of Laurel, Knox and Whitley, today announced the appointment of Jordyne Carmack as its new executive director.

“We are so excited to have Jordyne in the role of Executive Director,” said Lee Richardson, chair of the Leadership Tri-County board of directors. “As we look to move into the next phase of Leadership Tri-County, Jordyne will help to develop our growth strategy, focus on building new relationships in our community and increase Leadership Tri County opportunities.”

Carmack has lived in Laurel County since 2015, previously residing in Whitley County since 2008. She previously served on the board of Leadership Tri-County from 2020-2023 and served as Secretary and scholarship committee chair. As a member of the  Leadership Tri-County 2020 class, she was also recognized by her classmates with the Duane Hart Leader Among Leaders award.  In the past decade, she has served on the board or volunteered with organizations like the Chamber of Commerce Women in Business group, London Downtown, God’s Pantry Food Bank, the Playground Theatre, 127 Worldwide (Raleigh, NC), and other initiatives with University of the Cumberlands. She is also a recent graduate of Leadership Kentucky’s ELEVATE program in 2023. She is currently employed full-time as an instructional designer at University of the Cumberlands and previously as an associate professor of communication arts for seven years.

“These are exciting days for Leadership Tri-County,” said Carmack. “We have an incredible foundation and legacy to build upon and I am excited to work with the board of directors, volunteers and class members to create even more opportunities for the leaders in our community to grow, connect, and innovate for the future.”

Carmack holds a doctorate in leadership from University of the Cumberlands and a master’s degree in marketing communication from West Virginia University. She is also a Certified Everything DiSC facilitator and frequently teaches and speaks about authentic leadership and communication through her talent development business. Through her business, she has supported the leadership and communication skill development of local and regional entrepreneurs, small businesses, corporate and non-profit clients.

Leadership Tri-County is a non-profit organization established in 1987 as an educational program designed to identify potential, emerging, and current leaders from Knox, Laurel, and Whitley counties and to nurture their continued development into the leaders the Tri-County area needs now and in the future.
