The Duane Hart
Leader Among Leaders Award
On August
21, 2002, the Leadership Tri County Board of Directors voted unanimously
to establish the Duane Hart Leader among Leaders Award. Both Board and
Alumni were saddened by the tragic and untimely loss of one of its own
when in September 2000, Duane Hart succumbed to his injuries inflicted
by an unknown assailant.
Hart was a
member of LTC’s Charter Class of 1988 and participated in organizing the
ten-year anniversary celebrations in 1997. He graduated from Leadership
Kentucky in 1991. Duane was a member of the Seventeenth Street
Christian Church and the Corbin Lions Club. He was vice-president of
the Eastern Kentucky University Tri-County Board and a former Board of
Education member for Corbin Independent Schools and formerly served on
the Board of Regents at Morehead State University.
Hart’s son Chris became Leadership Tri County first
parent-child legacy when Chris graduated with the Class of 2000. It is
with Chris’s guidance and blessing that this special tribute award be
established for all future LTC classes.
Prior to graduation, each class member will cast a
secret ballot denoting which class member’s leadership skill stand out
among all others. At graduation, Chris Hart presents the recipient with
the Duane Hart Leader among Leaders Plaque.
